Shaft Excavation, Grouting and Crack Sealing
SAK Construction is Equipped to Handle a Full Range of Services
SAK Construction has the capability to construct shafts in soft ground by conventional excavation methods and the installation of shaft supports such as liner plates or rib and lagging. In very wet soft ground, we can also install sheet piling and sink caissons to construct a retaining, watertight shaft structure. In rock, SAK utilizes either mechanical excavation or drilling and blasting to install shaft support, such as rock bolts and shotcrete. All shaft support systems constructed and installed by SAK are designed by a licensed engineer.
Grouting and crack sealing are important components of tunnel and pipeline rehabilitation or installation. Grout consisting of a cement-and-water mix is pumped under pressure into the area between the tunnel lining and the excavated wall to fill voids in what is known as “contact grouting.” In tunneling, when a carrier pipe is installed, annular grouting is performed by injecting grout between the carrier pipe and the tunnel support structure to secure the carrier pipe in place.
Crack sealing is performed in the rehabilitation or repair of existing tunnels and pipelines that have cracks in their existing structure. In these conditions, SAK injects epoxy grouting into the crack to repair and provide a watertight seal, so that the useful life of the pipeline can be extended for the client.
