SAK EXPANDS SERVICES TO INCLUDE REHABILITATION OF WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMSSAK Acquires Exclusive License to Install Aqua-Pipe® in 10+ States May 3, 2010 SAK Construction, a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling industries contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area, is expanding its trenchless technology services to include rehabilitation of water distribution systems. This major growth in capabilities comes as a result of SAK’s recently concluded agreement with Canada-based Sanexen Environmental Services Inc. to operate as the exclusive licensee for installing Sanexen’s Aqua-Pipe product in 10 U.S. states—Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, South Carolina and Texas--plus southern Illinois. Aqua-Pipe is a stand-alone structural liner, designed and manufactured to be cured inside 6-inch to 16-inch water mains, eliminating the need to use the more costly and disruptive “dig-and-replace” method of pipeline rehabilitation. Aqua-Pipe differs from liners used in alternative types of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology in that it was developed specifically for use in drinking-water distribution systems, rather than in sewer and sanitary pipes. “Our Aqua-Pipe agreement opens a whole new service area for us and allows our customers to call on us for their drinking water needs, as well as the sanitary and sewer system rehabilitation services we have been providing,” says Jerry Shaw, SAK president. “As a proven water-main rehabilitation trenchless technology, Aqua-Pipe is in great demand nationwide today. It’s cost-effective and allows us to repair damaged or aging underground pipes with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.” Aqua-Pipe, which is an American Water Works Association Class IV structural liner, was first developed by Sanexen a decade ago and has been successfully installed in more than 1.2 million feet of water mains in North America. Aqua-Pipe meets all drinking water requirements and is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation to Standard NSF/ANSI 61. SAK Construction, www.sak-construction.com, is one of the fastest-growing, privately held pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling contractors in the U.S. today. SAK offers expertise in trenchless technology including cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) and a full range of underground construction services to provide clients with cost-effective solutions to the problems associated with inadequate or deteriorating water mains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers. SAK clients include a variety of city, county and state agencies; industrial sectors; municipalities; and water and sewer cooperatives coast-to-coast. Recent SAK Construction projects include the $31.9 million, 3.5-mile Downtown Wastewater Tunnel for the City of Austin, Texas; a CIPP sewer rehabilitation for the Los Coyotes Water Reclamation Plant in Los Angeles, Calif.; serving as subcontractor on the CIPP portion of the Meadows Alta Parallel project for the City of Las Vegas, Nev.; a CIPP sewer rehabilitation for the City of Phoenix, Ariz., totaling more than 120,000 linear feet; and the 2,300-linear-foot, 96-inch diameter Coldwater Relief Tunnel in unincorporated St. Louis County for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District. # # # Media contact: Patricia Binder, 636-441-0022, or Debra Finkel, 314-878-1213, Finkel & Binder Communications LLC, agent for SAK Construction LLC.
